Due to the heavy oil spill in “Baltic Touring Cars” qualifying, the Qualifying sessions for “BMW 325 CUP” and “GT” classes were cancelled and moved to Saturday morning.
“BMW Turbo Cup” Qualifying did not disappoint and was tight as always, but this time the front row is locked by local heroes – “Rode Racing” pilot Rolands Alnis Alfredsons tool the pole with a lap time of 1:30.928, beating the 2025 champ and current championship leader Artjoms Koclamazasvili from “Viptuning Team” by a bit more than 0,1 sec. V1600 has gathered 12 participants for Round 2, but no big surprises from the Qualifying sessions as the 2025 champion and current season leader Mareks Matvejevs took the pole position, he took pole beating Nauris Agafonovs narrowly by 0,1 sec, despite carrying extra 30 kg, while Nauris Agafonovs is carrying extra 20 kg. Third place went to the series newcomer Kermo Kalda, but breach of the technical regulations resulted in the annulment of the result, so the third place went to Andris Misins, meaning that the first three positions went to “JV Racing Academy” racers. Estonian young gun Ruudi Reinumagi took the P4 and will finalize the 2nd row.
In the “ABC Race” category Arturs Locs won the lottery and will start from the pole position while Agnis Rozitis will lineup in “ABC Race” P2.
In the “Baltic Touring Cars” race first position is taken by Agnius Narbutas, but he has to watch out from local legend Atis Veismanis who will line up right alongside him on the front row, despite being in the BTC3 class. Lithuanian Orestas Burgaila will lead the row 2, with lady Marta Starka right next to him.
The racing will start tomorrow 10:20 with the Race 1 for V1600 + ABC Race. Follow the race live on YouTube or visit us at Bikernieki!
