BaTCC races on in Parnu Summer Race!
The Baltic Touring Car Championship and the Baltic 6h Endurance Championship races on after a summer break with a Parnu Summer Race scheduled on August 21-22 on Audruring race track. This will also be a round of Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian racing series.
The most modern race track of Northern Europe will have the fastest pilots from all the region in several classes – Baltic 6h Endurance Championship, BMW 325 CUP, TCR, GT, historical formula, touring car classes BTC and ABC Race and the Nankang Endurance Academy 2h race.
The battle is not over yet in Baltic 6H endurance championship, yes, the lead held by “Siauliai – RD Signs” is significant but it’s impossible to predict anything in the six-hour race and the fight for the overall trophy is still on! Three “TCR” class teams – Noker Racing Team, ALM Customer Racing and LV Racing hold overall positions from 2nd to 4th and they have a very interesting battle also in their TCR class, with 2 races to go – any of these teams can win. Who will have the best preparation and the most luck – we will find out quite soon. Another question is how will LMS Racing do with Finnish Touring car ace Antti Buri in the lineup?
The last Parnu Summer Race in 2020 was won by Latvian team Flash Racing Latvia who have had a bad year so far, but their team leader Arturs Batraks doesnt lose his optimism: “Yes, the first two races are the ones we want to forget, but the bad luck has only grown our appetite for the 1st place like we did last year! Every detail counts in the endurance racing. And as we have very strong competitors, we must do everything right! And we are ready!”
A proper battle of titans is seen in the TCR class, although not that many participants this year, but Mikk Maaten and Valters Zviedris sure know how to show a quality racing, while Kestutis Stasionis is not far back and is ready to jump in the title fight. A very crucial race for a prestigious title is coming up!
GT PRO class this year is purely dominated by Sim Racer, winning all the races so far, including setting the lap records of Bikernieki and Audruring track. He is eager to prove his worth again in Parnu and beat his own lap record? Arturs Batraks and Audrius Butkevicius with a similar machinery will be there to challenge him. Raivo Tamm will also be present, and you can never count this man out!
The BMW 325 CUP have been nothing less than fascinating this year – a true story of racing with 36 cars on the grid in last race. With such a huge number of racers and still 3 rounds to go we are not having any guesses about the winner. It’s still open for everyone! Now the series is led by a rookie Edvinas Zadeikis with 135 points, followed by Robertas Kupčikas and Konstantīns Calko with 120. Matīss Mežaks, last year’s champion, with 106 points is in sixth place.
BTC4 class leader Jyrki Jonkkari is coming back to Parnu to defend his leadership against Janis Hans who strongly challenged the 2019 and 2020 champion. The grid will be joined by Arturs Simins and Aivaras Remeika, with Vitalijus Parchomenko participation is still under question.
BTC1 has a lot of new faces this year and the championship is interesting, currently lead by Lauryinas Simonavicius and followed by Aurimas Kucinskas and Dovydas Akstinas. Watch out for Erko Puusaag in his home track!
BTC2 has seen a drop of participants as the leaders have gone to race in different categories. Current leader Simo Lind had some technical issues last race, but he is back again to continue dominating the class. Will we see someone challenging him?
For the last couple of years BTC3 class has been a kingdom of Aurimas Mistautas. Although, this year he is strongly challenged by Julius Kirsis, Izidorius Paukstys and Danas Azikejev. So, the intrigue is still there.
Formula Mondial class is a similar story with Andris Grikis dominating but it’s not that simple as it looks from spectators’ seat – Raitis Murnieks is really strong this year and the battle for 1st place is on. And don’t count out the local Estonian racers – they are not happy with Latvians dominating in the formula class.
Nankang Endurance academy has shown a great increase in teams participating, mainly because of huge competition in BMW 325 CUP class – among 17 teams, the series is led by Lithuanian teams Baltic Diag by KTK and KTK Racing division, with 3rd place going to Estonian Krauman Motors. BTC1 class is led by IRP by Rindaugai Servisas, BTC2 by LND Fixus Racing, BTC3 by RD Signs 2 and BTC4 by 222 Racing. BMW Masters is led by Estonians EST1 Racing.
See you all soon in Parnu Summer Race!
