Couple of days left: Kaunas meets the greet season opening with Stateta BRO Grand Prix

As the weekend approaches, two websites become the most visited – weather forecasts and ours, where you can find an ever-growing list of participants. Both strongly promise the opening of the season to be full of battles, intrigue and action while racing at the “Nemunas Ring” in Kačerginė.

Usually, the beginning of the season brings not only the series and classes of races that are already recognizable to everyone, but also news not only in the regulations provided by us, but also new things coming from You! The racing equipment is getting younger and even more attractive, so it seems it is going to decorate the grand opening event without any disappointment.

Among the 66 participants (at the moment) who have registered for intense short-distance BaTCC fights, athletes can be met not only from Lithuania, but also from Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Poland and France!

The BMW 325 Cup series has the largest number of participants, and it never disappoints either with the number of athletes or with the fights until the end of the race. It is also pleasing to see that another  promising mono classification “BMW Turbo Cup” attracted the attention of the participants and as many as 7 participants from various countries, from Lithuania to Iceland, registered for the debut race. Lithuania will be represented here by Mantas Jasiulevičius and Algirdas Gelžinis, as even two guys from Iceland are joining the competition: Brynjólfur Þorkelsson and Jón Pálmason. Quite a debut race and a debut for those guys!

Spectators are not going to be disappointed by the impressive GT equipment list. True, Lithuanian surnames dominate here, but this far from being boring race of locals. Among the participants we can find a multiple champion Ramūnas Čapkauskas with TCR Cupra, Paulius Urbonavičius with Ginetta G55, Vidas Samuolis and Porsche Cayman GT4, Aivaras Remeika with Audi A3, Tomas Rudokas with another beautiful Porsche and Jyrki Jonkkari, the only Finn who will try to prove that you don’t have to be a Lithuanian to beat the Nemunas Ring. He plans to compete with the BMW E92 in Lithuania.

The two-hour race, which is titled as the cherry of the evening, already has 14 teams on the list, among which you can find participants from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia and a wide variety of equipment – from Honda or BMW, to Porsche and Ginetta.

There is quite an odd rule: for the first race of the season, participants usually register until the start of the race and during the stage it will certainly not take long for anyone to feast their eyes on or to find what to support.

Not to be forgotten – there is the large Porsche landing that will gather for fun on the track in a mid of Sunday. This weekend is not only perfectly balanced for a real petrol-head, but also perfect for a good time with the family when celebrating Mother’s Day.
