The epic race weekend of Parnu Summer Race is over!
155 participants, a record number in any BaTCC event and together with Polish friends WSMP series, ensured great racing on track and fantastic atmosphere in paddock, making it a true motorsports festival for every fan.
The most impressive was the field of 28 GT cars with exclusive, fast and very impressive field. Overall victories went to our Polish guys – Jedrzej Szczesniak was the king of first two races taking the overall victory while Seweryn Mazur was the fastest among all in Race 3. Robertas Kupcikas was the fastest from BaTCC series taking victory in BGT PRO class, winning all 3 races. Arturs Batraks had eventful races but still managed to secure the 2nd place in the class, followed by Karolis Stasiukynas. In the BGT AM class, we can say Martins Lukstins from Porsche Latvia had a successful debut, managing to be the fastest one with most points in 3 race overalls. Finnish ace Mika Niemela took two race victories, but unlucky race 1 was enough for second place, Ivars Vallers (LV Racing) had great fights all three races and third place in the class is a great result among 10 participants of the class. BTC4 class belongs to Henrikas Statkus with Ikars Putnins, Arturs Simins in the third.
The BMW 325 CUP is a brand of itself, and it did not disappoint, but the narrative is the same – Ricards Subeckis dominated both races, but not without stress, in first race he had to defend against Julius Kirsis, while in second against Krisjanis Oskerko. Julius Kirsis with a second place in Race one and P3 in race three was second overall with his Dream 2 Drive teammate Aurimas Mistautas. Krisjanis Oskerko was fourth overall, Darius Gaidulionis fifth. Julius Kirsis also was fastest among Masters, Darius Gaidulionis second and for a long-time break Artjoms Koclamazasvili is back on the podium with a third place. Rookie class had a good battle between Matas Mickevicius and Eividas Sitavicius, who with a victory in race two secured first place overall. Olivier Villeneuve was second in race one and first in race two in the Gentlemen category, leaving behind Atis Veismanis and Normunds Dobums. Emilija Ulvydaite was fastest in the Ladies group. The results are still provisional.
For V1600 this was the finale of the season and the title showdown! Three-way battle from championship leader Ragnar Simuland, Viesturs Ozols and Raivis Meilands was expected. Cards were shuffled by Arvids Rumbens who had a very good pace and with hard battles he managed to earn three from three victories! Ragnar Simuland finished third place in race one, and twice second in next races and that was enough to secure the title. Viesturs Ozols finished second in race one and crossed the line third in race two but later was penalized from race control and was relegated to fifth place in the class, and the engine problems for race three made him forfeit the battle for the title. Arvids Rumbens with his outstanding performance earned the third place in overall season standings!
ABC Race – Nauris Agafonovs had all to lose in the Parnu race but kept his cool for all 3 races and with steady and fast performance proved that the 2024 ABC Race champion crown is well deserved. Nauris Agafonovs finished first in first race and further added that up with one more second place and a fifth. Kristaps Stikuts won the last two races and was fastest pilot of the weekend. Home town hero Kairo Kallas had a very strong pace right from the Qualifying, where he was first in the class beating Agnius Narbutas by only 59 thousandths of a second. Kairo managed the pace in race one, while there was a beautiful battle between Narbutas and season leader Simo Lind. And in this order Race 1 finished. Kallas was unstoppable again in Race 2, but this time Andrius Keblys fought through the competitors and greeted the finish flag in second position, keeping Narbuta just half a sec behind and Lind in fourth. Narbutas pressured Kallas in the third race and by mid distance managed to overtake and build some gap. Lind took third position, Petukauskas fourth. In event standings drivers finished in this order – Kallas, Narbutas, Lind, Keblys, Sablinskas, Grigaitis. Decent grid of five entries formed the BTC1 class grid. With newcomer Valdis Kikusts setting the tone – taking pole position of the class. Kikusts managed the races perfectly and won all three of them, although 2023 Champion Dovydas Akstinas was right behind in every single one of them. Edgars Plonis had nice battles with colleague from Baltic States and Poland and managed to secure the third place in Parnu Summer Race.
