An epic circuit racing event is ahead of us this week – Parnu Summer Race 2024!
The Parnu Summer Race event, taking place this week on August 16-17 in Porsche Ring, Estonia will be the fourth round of the Baltic Touring Car Championship and Polish Circuit Racing series (WSMP), and from the entry list so far – we will have an epic and massive circuit racing event!
“After 5 years break in our cooperation with our Poland colleagues and after a visit to Poznan in 2023, we are going to have a great event in just few days with more than we anticipated Polish racers, and we believe that mixing the races together will be a great experience for our racers and guests from Poland. GT class looks really good with a lot of Finnish participants coming to race against Polish racers, and in our regional series that is quite unique. The same applies to all classes – we hope to have memorable event to every participant!” says BaTCC promoter Andis Meilands.
More than 150 participants are anticipated and that is going to make a very exciting weekend for everyone – racers on track, spectators on spot and for spectators on the Internet for video broadcast. With first races scheduled for Friday evening, starting from 17.00 and then continuing until late evening on Saturday.
Impressive field for GT cars is expected with 27 confirmed entries, and with registration still open, some cars could still join. Starting with GT3 cars like two Lamborghini Huracan cars and Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3 EVO, followed by several Porsche GT3 CUP, Lamborghini Huracan ST EVO, GT4, TCR and very quick uniquely custom-made vehicles. Drivers from Baltic States, Finland and Poland. Favourite? Many, many guesses. But Arturs Batraks dominated the previous round.
The BMW 325 CUP will field more than 30 cars from the same countries and from France as well. 30+ cars are expected with return of Finnish competitors. This will be a very crucial event for the general standings, as the current leader Ricards Subeckis might be uncatchable after certain scenarios. But the BMW 325 cup races always have some special tricks played out and to predict something is impossible. Let’s just wait and enjoy the Saturday races.
The Baltic Touring Car classes will be paired against similar paced cars from Poland, growing the grid to over 20 cars and bringing more focus on the racing and details. Three races in one weekend are one more addition. With newcomers to classes like Valdis Kikusts, Marius Grigaitis, Modestas Suolys, Vilius Stanulionis and Marta Starta there is new blood on track that will not be just spectating races. And as the penultimate round of the series will be very important to current championship leaders – Lelde Jukama in BTC1, Simo Lind in BTC2 and Tomas Jatkevicius in BTC3.
New experience will also be for Baltic V1600 and ABC Race class competitors with their classes joined by Poland classes – Klasa 6 and RN2, matching similar paced cars. This is a title decider event for both V1600 and ABC Race. V1600 series lead so far goes to Estonian Ragnar Simuland, closely followed by Viesturs Ozols. Raivis Meilands has quite chances also if the top guy’s mess something up. ABC Race classification after 3 rounds belong to Nauris Agafonovs, but Mareks Matvejevs is just 8 points adrift. With Danilevskis also not that far away. Will be great battle with high stakes!
2h race will be a proper rock’n’roll – 27 BaTCC cars will be joined by at least 10 cars from the Poland series. Different rules don’t mean there will be no racing on the track and with so crowded field – patience and strategy might be the key for victory in the two hour long race that will go by quickly with so much action.
