Eventful first day of Parnu Summer Race 2024!
The fourth round of Baltic Touring Car Championship and Polish Racing series (WSMP.pl) had an eventful first day of racing with Qualifying day and first out of three races. And, yes, it was a proper battle between Baltic and Polish drivers!
The racing day started with united V1600, ABC Race and Polish RN1, RN2 and Klass 6. The race pole position was taken by Arvids Rumbens who after first two laps was relegated to P3, but hard work enabled to work the way back up and take the first victory for Rumbens in the season. P2 in Race 1 went to Viesturs Ozols and P3 to Ragnar Simuland mixing the championship standings completely. ABC Race victory went to season leader Nauris Agafonovos, who earned valuable points over closest rival Mareks Matevejevs who finished third. Those guys were split by Kristaps Stikuts.
Baltic Touring Cars had a proper festival for modified cars lovers – Victory went to BTC3 driver Tomas Jatkevicius who beat Slawomir Szwargot by just 0,5 seconds. Kairo Kallas dominated the BTC2 race. Agnius Narbutas got better of home town hero Simo Lind. Valdis Kikusts had a wonderful debut in BTC1 class winning the race and beating Dovydas Akstinas by few seconds.
GT race was the best race BaTCC had ever had 26 cars entered the grid and the quality was very high of the race. Robertas Kupcikas took the lead in opening lap but slipped on the last turn of opening laps and let through Jedrzej Szczesniak, Tomasz Magdziarz secured the third place. Lukas Laukaitis was second fastest in BGT PRO class. Martins Lukstins was fastest among GT AM class participants beating Ivars Vallers by just 1,5 seconds. Henrikas Statkus won the BTC4 class, Arturs Simins second.
