Estonia Porsche Ring, BaTCC awaits Poland circuit racing drivers!
Poles meet Finns, Kubica vs Raikkonen style
2024 season both for Polish Circuit racing series (WSMP.pl) and Baltic Touring Car Championship(BaTCC) has a special cherry for participants and fans – WSMP for the first time will visit Estonia in the Baltics and BaTCC will go to Poland for the first time. And first event of this cooperation is right on our door step – Parnu Summer Race 2024, August 16-17, Porschering, Parnu, Estonia. Where we will have also a lot of Finnish drivers and that will be unique in local motorsports to see Poles and Finns race together.
Porsche ring is the most modern and probably best operation circuit racing track in Northern Europe, 3300 m long, with wide safety zones and modern infrastructure – perfect place for safe and enjoyable circuit racing and during the season usually is visited twice by BaTCC series because of those reasons. It’s quite a distance for Polish drivers, but don’t be afraid – Finns and Estonians are ready and look with excitement to travel even further in September to Poznan, new track is a big experience always.
The Poland “BMW 318 IS” class will have separate race rides, but all other classes will race together with Baltic counterparts split very similarly by pace on the track. Thursday will be dedicated to testing all day, while Friday will be day for official practice sessions, Qualifying and first races of the weekend..
Parnu Summer Race 2024 will be fourth event for both series and will be very, very crucial for season standings!
2h Endurance race will be a proper endurance race – as many classes and that means many cars will hit the track in the united BaTCC and WSMP race together. The cars will go together the distance with a bit different rules in the series, but nonetheless the new conditions will determine the best teams on the track and some strategies might be different from usual races.
The Baltic BMW 325 CUP is dominantly lead by Ricards Subeckis who has taken 5 out of 6 victories in the races and accumulated 336 out of maximum 360 points. Followed by Paulius Urbonavicius (218) and Uldis Timaks (175).
GTs could have one of the best grids in recent years as Finnish racers are coming in mass and some local racers are returning. In the mix with some Polish racers could be very impressive field! And the Poland class divisions are very similar to class principles in the BaTCC so D4 GTC, 3500+ and 3500 classes will be on the same pace as Baltic cars in respective classes. The fastest BGT PRO category is lead by Karolis Stasiukynas(MB GT3 AMG EVO), but Arturs Batraks who was unstoppable in Riga is close behind in his Lambo. Long time veteran and BaTCC legend Jyrki Jonkkari is first in the BGT AM class with 78 points but it won’t be easy for him to battle in Porsche Ring where many opponents are looking for that top podium spot. BTC4 is the battle between Arturs Simins and Henrikas Statkus, with Simins leading the standings so far with 93 points.
Very interesting battles will await us in the Baltic Touring Cars Class 1 and Class 2. In BTC1 we are expecting a record number of entries for the last years and in the mix with Polish cars the racing will be very interesting for those cars where championship lead belongs to Lelde Jukama. BTC2 is a proper racing battleground this season. Championship leader Simo Lind had a tough weekend in Kaunas, but back home he will be ready to be in his usual position – first. Kairo Kallas trails Lind by 25 points, Andrius Keblys is third 17 more points behind.
The beginner classes of BaTCC – the V1600 and ABC Race will have races together with slowest Poland classes like RN1, RN2 and class 6. V1600 class lead belongs to Ragnar Simuland, with Viesturs Ozols just 7 points behind. While in ABC Race Nauris Agafonovs (101 point) is challenged by Mareks Matvejevs with 93 points. Arturs Danilevskis not that far behind with 82.
See you all soon in Parnu!
