BaTCC Season is open with Qualifying sessions.. and new GT track record of Porsche ring!
The opening round of the Baltic Touring Car Championship 2023 in Porsche Ring under chilly weather is underway with free practice and qualifying sessions for many classes, and the biggest intrigue of the day was who is going to be on the pole position for Saturday BMW 325 CUP race!
With 46 entered cars, 41 lined up on the Qualifying grid for the BMW 325 CUP, with many well known and new contenders ready to battle.
Technical difficulties and tire issues have impacted the Baltic 6h Endurance Championship grid, with nine cars hitting the track. The biggest question was – will ESmotorsport by AMG Customer Racing Team and their Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO will take the position with their star driver lineup?
And they succeeded – Reinis Nitiss made the fastest ever GP lap around Porsche Ring – 1:12.303 and conquered pole position! Followed by Porsche Club Lithuania and Juta Racing with Porsche GT3 CUP cars. Fourth position went to.
Baltic Touring Car Qualifying session had 20 entries on the grid in several classes. The absolute pole position was taken by Tomas Jatkevicius with BMW 318 in BTC3 class. BTC2 class was won by Estonian Simo Lind, while BTC1 fastest driver was Dovydas Akstinas
V1600 competition saw seven entries, with Ernests Eglitis taking pole position, followed by Kaspars Rudmiezis and Raivis Meilands. BMW 116 Trophy 1st place in Qualifying goes to Elvis Turans.
Tomorrow the racing starts 10:00 in the morning with the Touring Cars classes race.
