ERNESTA GLOBYTE: IT IS GOING TO BE A REALLY INTERESTING EVENT

Two-times Baltic Open class champion and last seasons Vice-champion Ernesta Globyte is looking forward for the last event in Riga where we will find out the new champions. This season she is participating in Baltic GT class with her unique “Ginetta” car. Class leader before the last event is another Lithuanian driver Saulius Beržis with 100 points while Ernesta is 12 points behind.

How do you rate the situation in the season standings before event in Riga?
I already can tell that it is going to be really interesting event as we don’t have fully clear leaders yet in any of the classes. It seems we are going to find out the winners during this final event only, it makes it really interesting. This fact already causes some intrigue and tension among participants until the final finish line (smiles).

How was you season?
Personally, I had a really interesting season. I haven’t finished one run because of the contact with the other competitor. Then there was a disqualification resulting in loss of points, after that disqualification was withdrawn by the stewards. It felt like my luck took holidays for the first part of the season. I really hope that the final event are going to be much better.

What is your opinion about the Bikernieki track and changes happening this season?
I am really happy for the track. The fact that one more racing track in Baltics is quickly climbing to the other level with it looks quality and approach to car sport. Taking the fact that even three events of this BaTCC season took place in Riga, two thoughts come to my mind. Of course, it is good, that race happens in Riga track that is really specific and interesting. However, it is really sad we have Baltic countries championship happening basically in one racing track. I wish it would be more variety and events in all Baltic countries.
