THIRD ROUND OF BALTIC TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP „DEWALT GRAND PRIX” BRINGS NEW WINNERS
On Sunday, July 10th, during the third round of Baltic Touring Car Championship „DeWalt Grand Prix” atmosphere was absolutely great. Overall winners were found out in three main classes with 48 participants from Baltic, Scandinavia and Russia.
Sunday, July 10th, began with qualification rides for all racing classes. Then at 12:00 spectators over Bikernieki racetrack was able to watch enjoyable air show, where one of the planes performed aerobatic elements.
The first medal set of the day received Estonian and Finnish Championship for BMW 325 CUP/XTREME RACE class racers, who went for 40 minute endurance race. The most successful this time were Estonians Mikk Maaten/Sven Karuse, second place got Allan Tigane/Henrik Eeltee and third place won Thomas Pavadoni/Sten Pentus.
In Latvian Championship „Kumho Challenge” classes participated 19 drivers who were showing really impressive battles in their home track. In National class convincing victory won Janis Vanks, second place got Garijs Rozkalns and third left Antons Dolgopolovs. In Super 1600 class best in both races for the first time was the new „LMT Autosporta Akadēmija” racer Martins Sesks leaving behind the experienced Girts Kruzmanis. Third place won Russian Dmitry Savateev.
On start line came also the most powerful class with 11 racers – „Baltic Touring Car”. No expectations to others left the only Latvian licensed driver in this class Nikolay Gryazin (BTC2) winning his first Baltic Touring Car Championship victory in BTC class. Second place with a stable performance in both races won Lithuanian Saulius Berzis (BGT) and third got Erneste Globyte (BGT) who experienced a challenging racing weekend in Riga.
Next round of „Baltic Touring Car Championship” will take place on 20 – 21 of August in Bikernieki racetrack when we will be celebrating the five year anniversary of RIGA SUMMER RACE event!
