BALTIC CIRCUIT RACING SEASON OPENING IN PARNU THIS WEEKEND

The new Baltic Touring Car Championship season starts this weekend in “auto24ring” race track. More than 70 participants and 100 drivers from eight countries have entered the competition. Many famous and new names in the participant’s list.

The prestigious “Baltic Touring Cars” class has 20 entries. Lithuanian drivers will have to give their best to beat Finnish racers with “Chevrolet Camaro” cars. For the first time on the grid we will see “Aquila CR1” prototype driven by Lithuanian rally star Ramūnas Čapkauskas. Lithuanian Egidijus Valeiša will make a debut with “Porsche GT3 cup” car.

Latvian championship will feature 22 racers from four countries in two Kumho Challenge classes. 10 drivers will fight for the win in Latvian National class, among them the last year’s champion Garijs Rožkalns and three times vice champion Jānis Vanks.

Positive changes have occurred to Super1600 class where 12 competitors have registered for the race. Many young Latvian autosport talents will take part – Beate Klipa, Nikolay Gryazin, Mārtiņš Sesks. Latvian touring car ace Ģirts Krūzmanis will challenge young talents with “Peugeot 208 R2” racecar. Kristaps Mietulis, last year’s winner, will be the man to beat.

Four hour Baltic Endurance Championship will be very exciting for racing fans. Many Lithuanian teams will challenge for the overall trophy. Watch out for “Zvaigzne Motorsport” team where World Rallycross championship race winner Reinis Nitišs will race. 21 teams have entered the competition, 15 of them are from Lithuania. We will see Swedish “NERO RACING”, Russian rally team “Cone Forest Rally Team” with BMW M3. Three Latvian teams will challenge the Lithuanians – “Flash Racing”, “Viptuning” and “Zvaigzne Motorsport”. Last year’s BTC winner Dainius Matijošaitis and his “Brum Brum” team will also fight for the endurance race glory.

Estonian championship’s “BMW 325 cup” will have strong lineup, including last season’s fastest racers Allan Tigane and Mikk Maaten, and current and former Estonian formula stars – Sten Pentus and Tristan Viidas.

On the first day on April 30th practices are scheduled for all racing classes. “BMW 325 cup” will have two qualification races and two races in the evening. On the second day of racing BTC and Kumho challenge classes will have qualification and then only pure racing!

Entrance for spectators for both days us 10 Eur, one day 7 Eur.
